Who We Are

Las Vegas Reformed Presbyterian Church is a growing body of worshipers consisting of believers and their children officially taken under care of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA) in late 2012.

As part of the RPCNA, we enjoy the supervision and support of the Pacific Coast Presbytery, the regional body of churches to which we belong.

Our Pastor is Rev. Edgar Ibarra.

What We Confess and Believe

Briefly:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

We confess full commitment to the authority of the Bible as the inerrant, infallible Word of God.

The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man’s salvation, faith, and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men…the Scriptures being immediately inspired by God, and by His singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical; so as, in all controversies of religion, the Church is finally to appeal unto them.

We confess that the Lord our God is one LORD. The Scriptures teach that He is the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7

We confess our total inability to save ourselves. We are born in original sin and under the wrath of God. Therefore, we confess that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Christ’s sacrifice was once and for all and perfect to save all who call upon Him for salvation. We confess that on the third day He bodily arose from the dead. We confess that it is the Holy Spirit that regenerates us and gives us the gift of faith to believe in Him. We contribute nothing towards our salvation except our sin.

We confess Him as our Covenant Lord in every area of life, and we vow together to advance His Kingdom on earth. Our allegiance is to King Jesus. His law for the Christian is the rule for living a sanctified life.

We believe that God desires His Church to set forth clear statements of her system of doctrine that can be supported from Scripture. We therefore accept as our creed, or subordinate standards, The Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and the Constitution of the RPCNA as faithful summaries of the doctrines and practices set forth in Holy Scripture.

We confess that

Every nation ought to recognize the Divine institution of civil government, the sovereignty of God exercised by Jesus Christ, and its duty to rule the civil affairs of men in accordance with the will of God. It should enter into covenant with Christ and serve to advance His Kingdom on earth. The negligence of civil government in any of these particulars is sinful, makes the nation liable to the wrath of God, and threatens the continued existence of the government and nation.

As Reformed Presbyterians, we are heirs of Calvin, Knox, and the Protestant Reformation. We are also known as Covenanters.

How We Worship

Our service is simple and Word centered.  We sing the songs of the Bible, the Psalms, translated into English verse. We confess that the Book of Psalms is the hymnbook that God has given to His Church to use to worship Him. We purposely do not employ musical instruments.

We pray according to the Scriptures, adoring God, confessing sins, giving thanks for mercies received, and offering up the petitions of our hearts.

We give heartfelt attention to the reading of Scripture and to faithful preaching of the Word, as a means by which God’s grace and Holy Spirit works in our lives. We confess that the preaching of the Word and the administration of the Sacraments are the primary means of grace. The preaching is expository and experiential in nature.

We practice both infant and adult baptism. Only communicant members in good standing in Christ’s Church are given access to the Lord’s Supper.
